Ariana Grande apologizes for licking donuts, says she’ll ‘learn from her mistakes’

American pop star Ariana Grande has posted a public apology video to YouTube expressing contrition for licking some donuts on a tray at a southern California shop.

The video is in response to a video that went viral showing the 22 year old “Problem” singer and her backup dancer waiting at the counter of a donut shop, where she was caught on camera saying “I hate America,” as well as appearing to lick donuts that remained for sale. News outlets were quick to jump on the un-patriotic comments with a Fox News host calling her a “spoiled, entitled pop princess.”

In a previous statement, the singer said her comments were taken out of context and were in fact a response to issues that she has with the food industry. The singer apologises repeatedly throughout the clip, saying she is not in fact unpatriotic, saying, “with the advances we’ve made in the past couple months, and all the progressive things that have been going on, I’ve never been prouder of this country, actually.”

“Seeing a video of yourself behaving poorly is such a rude awakening — it’s like, you don’t know what to do,” she says in the four-minute black-and-white apology. “I was so disgusted with myself. I wanted to shove my face into a pillow and disappear.”
