We’ve all been to show before where the act hasn’t lived up to the hype… Whether they don’t play your favorite songs, play a short set, most people take it in their stride and accept that sometimes life is full of little disappointments…
Well, not in Israel.
As NY Daily News reports, many punters, who paid 344 Israeli Sheqels (around $AUS118) for tickets, were left fuming after Sia didn’t entertain them the way they wanted during her set at Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park on 11 August.
Their list of grievances included that the pop star reportedly performed for just over an hour, did not engage with the audience and played a pre-recorded video featuring Kristen Wiig that didn’t quite sync up with the rest of the show, rather than air the actual concert in real time.
According to the Jerusalem Post, the notoriously stage-shy performer “never once addressed the crowd, mentioned what it was like to be in Tel Aviv, or bantered in any way”, as she performed at the back of the stage under her signature wig which covered her entire face.”
To make matters even worse, instead of showing live on-stage footage of the singer’s performance, the large megatron screens only aired a “polished, prerecorded video instead.”
The show’s promoter, Ila Elkayam of Tandi Productions, says he hasn’t received an official claim yet, according to IQ Magazine.
“We wish to emphasize that the performance was extremely successful and we have received hundreds of comments from satisfied fans who thoroughly enjoyed the performance and the production,” he said. “In addition, it should be noted, that to the best of our knowledge, the claim was not submitted against Sia herself.”
