Singaporean pop upstart Linying just can’t seem to do anything wrong.

She became the first Singaporean female singer-songwriter to perform at the recent Summer Sonic festival in Japan. Her 2015 debut single ‘Sticky Leaves’ amassed more than 1 million plays on Spotify alone. She has a slew of upcoming dates across Asia, Europe and Australia, and collaborated with Singaporean pop royalty Gentle Bones. It’s safe to say it’s been a pretty successful 12 months.

Now the young singer has solidified her status as one of the most romising artists to come out of Asia with news that her third single and title track of her new EP, ‘Paris 12’ will be released on 2 September followed by the EP on 30 January. Linying also signs to Universal Music Singapore on a multi-rights deal which includes recording rights, live shows, endorsements and merchandising. She will be co-managed by Universal Music Singapore and foundation Music.

“Paris 12 is in many ways an emotional map – my own cartography of feeling and experience. I wanted the record to be a confessional one, framed in especially esoteric terms, to see how much more universally the messages could be translated,” Linying explained.
