Mandopop King Jay Chou Marries Model/Actress Hannah Quinlivan In Fairytale Wedding


Taiwanese media outlets have revealed that Chinese pop superstar Jay Chou has married long time girlfriend Hannah Quinlivan in England on the eve of his 36th birthday.

The couple have been dating for four years and Chou proposed to his Australian-Taiwanese girlfriend whilst they were holidaying in the Maldives on the day of her 21st birthday. The ceremony was held in Yorkshire, northern England on Saturday afternoon in an Selby Abbey, an 11th century church.

Previously Jay had said that he would marry before his 35th birthday and whilst he missed this deadline he stated at a recent press conference. “I need to do something very significant in my life before I turn 36. Starting a family sounds pretty good.”

Quinlivan, wearing a beautiful Tudor inspired dress designed by Taiwanese boutique Sophia Weddings, was walked down the aisle by her Australian father before he placed her hand in Jay’s according to Tawanese media outlet Apple Daily. Around 50 relatives and friends attended the ceremony that was officiated by a Taiwanese pastor Qu Qiyun. Two of Chou’s good friends, The Drifters singer Darren and fitness coach Hulk, were the groomsmen whilst the bride chose actresses Beatrice Fang and Fion Sun as her bridesmaids.

In a romantic gesture, Jay performed a song which he compsed especially for the ocassion, accompanied by a string orchestra at the ceremony. Following the wedding, guests were treated to dinner at a hotel and then a party at Howard Castle where guests celebrated until the early hours.


Apple Daily has estimated the wedding to have cost NT $23 million, making it one of the most expensive in Taiwanese entertainment history.

Shortly before the nuptials, Chou’s company JVR Music released a series of wedding photos that were taken across Europe in October.
