The reigning queen of pop has raked in a staggering amount of money this year, more than most people could even imagine earning across an entire lifetime. According to The Sunday Express, Swift’s entertainment empire has already made $318 million this year, and is on track to bring in at least $365 million in 2015 as a whole. That works out, of course, to a whopping $1 million a day, or nearly $42,000 an hour. Consider that the average household income is $50,000 per year, Swift can basically go for a nap for an hour and a half and wake up having made more than the average US family. The singer’s philanthropic gestures have not gone unnoticed though with the star donating $40,000 to a young fan battling cancer and $15,000 to a firefighter who was injured trying to save his family.

So how on earth did she earn that much money this year? Well, the phenomenal economic windfall has occured due to a number of factors. Firstly, her most recent album, “1989,” has sold over 5 million copies, and the connected tour has already brought in $173 million, and that doesn’t include merchandise. In addition to this, the 25 year old himaker has penned lucrative endorsement deals with brands like Diet Coke, Sony and Target, as well as, according to The Express, “massive investments in three fast-growing companies that mainly handle music management and touring.”

The news comes after Taylor and her boyfriend Calvin Harris were recently named the world’s highest-paid celebrity couple. The 25-year-old singer-songwriter and the British DJ’s respective endorsement deals helped them to replace Jay Z and Beyonce at the top of Forbes magazine’s annual list and there’s no-one even in the ballpark of knocking Swift from her perch. Looks like 2015 has been an even better year than 1989 for Taylor Swift.
