Crush of the Day: Timber Timbre – ‘Black Water’

Timber Timbre - Creep On Creepin' On

Some artists, whether they like to admit it or not, create music to move people. And some even hold the belief that a single song can change the world. Well, that is what Canadian band Timber Timbre has done for me, regardless of their intentions.

“Black Water” is taken from the band’s fourth album Creep On Creepin’ On, released in 2011. A hypnotising mix of psychedelia and folk, the track is somehow sombre and uplifting at the same time, dreary yet charming and delicately plays with your emotions. Throw lead singer Taylor Kirk’s haunting vocals into the mix and it is as if you have entered a dream-like state and a place you don’t ever want to leave.

They are admittedly a new discovery of mine, having listened to the mesmerising “We’ll Find Out” eight-years after the band’s inception. The song did, however, open the door to the world of Timber Timbre. And to be honest I could have listened to a few more of their tracks before picking one for your listening pleasure, but “Black Water” was just too beautiful to let sit here without immediate attention. Timber Timbre’s entire catalogue is one that desperately awaits to be heard and one that I await to hear.
