Crush of the Day: Woodkid – ‘I Love You’ (Booka Shade remix)

Woodkid is the new phenomenon in/from France – depends on the point of view. This young, hype and beardy genius is a renown videoclip maker who produced around 60 projects in 10 years including Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’, Lana Del Rey’s ‘Born to Die’ and Drake’s ‘Take Care’. He has unleashed an online mega buzz and pro/con passions since he begun to make music himself with the EP Iron. His album The Golden Age is on its way to Asia, as it’s just been released in France.

But we’re not only talking about Woodkid here. Because his track ‘I Love You’, included in the 3-track single release I Love You, is just the basis of Booka Shade’s remix. Arno Kammermeier and Walter Merziger are Booka Shade, a German minimal house music duo described as “one of those rare electronic music acts who channel the spirit and sounds of underground techno, but who can rock any festival crowd.” I wouldn’t bet my house on house music, but Woodkid + Booka Shade is definitively an explosive and addictive combination.
