Does your heart yearn for the surf? Chris Rose’s mix of upbeat, party country-tinged tunes and nostalgic ballads will take you to the beach this Summer.
Chris says “[Nowhere Land is] one of the first songs I ever wrote at my local Lighthouse Beach, it’s really honest to who I am and my dream that I keep chasing”
It is easy to hear his small town Australian roots, secluded surf breaks, coastal campfires and country vibes that colour and shape his music.
While performing, Chris caught the attention of talent scouts of the Talent Development Project. The TDP are responsible for discovering acts like Angus and Julia Stone and The McClymonts. He was invited to take part in its program held at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, so he packed up and left the family home to pursue the opportunity in Sydney.
At the TDP one of Chris’s original songs was heard by the chairman and radio presenter Alan Jones, AO. Alan championed Chris’s dream, interviewing him on the radio to introduce Chris to Australia. Jones also introduced Chris to Sony Music where he was offered a Development Deal.
Whilst still in development, Sony also offered Chris a recording contract for his original song ‘We Are’ co-written with Lindsay Rimes. Chris toured nationally at 17 rural shows supporting The Voice Winner of 2013, Harrison Craig.
Chris is active in Sydney’s live music scene having shared the stage with some of Australia’s most iconic artists including Icehouse, Richard Clapton, Christine Anu, Lior, Damien Leith, Thirsty Merc and the Jezabels. He’s also played before legendary artists such as the Eagles, Bob Dylan, Kelly Clarkson, Matchbox 20, Motley Crew, Bryan Adams and Keith Urban. His highlights include playing to over 40,000 people on Australia Day 2016.
Chris is more excited than ever to showcase his unique sound which has been described as a blend of the classic singer-songwriter with surf, country and indie pop. Chris’s debut E.P ”Nowhere Land” is a compilation of tunes he wrote living in his coastal hometown and newer songs dreamed up in the inner-west of Sydney.
The EP ”Nowhere Land” is available now and is the perfect companion for a lazy summer day.
