Singaporean indie music lovers are in for a treat this November with the announcement of Neon Lights, a brand new music & art destination festival headlined by some of the brightest stars in music.
The first of its kind in Singapore, Neon Lights takes cues from craft festivals like Camp Symmetry, Manila’s Wanderland Festival, and Malaysia’s Urbanscapes. The two day celebration will illuminate the historic Fort Canning Park on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November with a rich and vibrant music and arts programme encompassing international and local music, dance, theatre, comedy, art & design installations, spoken word and children’s workshops.
The first round lineup has been announced and we have to say, it looks pretty delectable. From Irish folk singer-songwriter Damien Rice, recently reformed Brit shoegaze legends Ride, rocktronica duo Ratatat, electronic producer duo Flight Facilities and soul/funk legends Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, the headliner slots are enough to get pulses racing but that’s not all.
Also performing across the event’s six stages are acclaimed folk act Sun Kil Moon, indie rock group Mercury Rev, electronic maestro Mr Scruff, American singer-songwriter Julia Holter, Japanese multi-instrumentalist Shugo Tokumaru, mercurial French act Nouvelle Vague and techno-house acts Kiasmos and The Field rounding up the first line-up. And this is just the first announcement… the promoters have promised even more acts will be joining the talent packed lineup.
Many of the strongest acts on the bill are also playing at Clockenflap, so if you’re in Singapore and can’t make/justify the trip across to Hong Kong, you can kick back and have some of the brightest stars in the indie music scene come to you.
