Dru Chen Returns To Southeast Asia With More Pop-Soul-Funk Madness

Australia-based Dru Chen will perform in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines this August and September with his 6-piece band – and he promises to bring more of, well, everything. Says the chirpy singer-songwriter, who self-produced and self-released his Intentions EP earlier this year, “The set will be more melodic, emphasizing backing vocals and harmonies. We’ve updated some of the old arrangements, thrown in a few new [songs] too! The dynamics will be more subtle, and the groove more soulful.”

He returns in anticipation of his second single “Turnaround” and following a well-received tour across Australasia earlier this year, including headline shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, and impressively energetic performances in Singapore and Malaysia. Chen’s superb, wide ranging vocals and manic charm, supported by his impeccably tight band had audiences dancing in their seats – and on the stage! At his most memorable show in Melbourne, his band could barely see him nor his cues because of the 50 or so people crowded onstage with them. “Crazy times!” exclaims Chen, and rightfully so.

To know what to expect at his upcoming shows, watch Chen’s video for the funky, anthemic single “You Bring Out The Best In Me”, then save the dates to catch him live. We look forward to some crazy times indeed.
