It has been 22 years since Simon Marrocco released material for the music world. The former frontman of cult Melbourne band The Mood returns in style with his mini EP titled Inside Information. This time he has invited Jeff Martin (of The Tea Party fame) into the studio to produce the two track neoteric rock delight and together they bring the debut release as Samskara Radio.

The lead title track “Inside Information” has got you scratching your head for comparisons as it sounds somewhat familiar yet original – though maybe due to the catchy guitar hook. Assisting with the hook is the rustic vocals of Marrocco and when merged with an up-tempo funky beat, we have ourselves a winning track.

Samskara Radio brings the harmonica into the mix for “Paranoia”. Taken in the same vein as the EP opener, the track brings a blues-y feel with the verse. The addition of a lovely female backing vocalist smooths out the tune while Marrocco delivers the dazed infused lyric, “I know what it’s like to be lost in a crowd /And I know what it’s like to be lost in a dream”.

The short and sweet release Inside Information EP is an impressive debut for the Marrocco/Martin duo and now we play the waiting game for their upcoming full studio album (which is thankfully, due in the coming months).
