Crush of the Day: Serenaide

Absence truly does make the heart grow fonder – such is the case of my long-time crush on Singapore indie-pop outfit Serenaide. After disappearing off the radar for almost 6 years – the last update on their website was in 2007! – the sextet will be playing at the Mosaic Music Festival next month, to the immense shock and delight of their fans (including yours truly). Having earned a place in many Singaporeans’ hearts with their quirky, often colloquial lyrics, with references to Channel 5 and ‘magical Marine Parade’, as well as their infectious retro-inspired ditties, Serenaide’s comeback to the stage will surely be embraced with open arms.
