Clockenflap deliver an unbelievable second round music lineup

Hong Kong’s premier music and arts festival Clockenflap stimulated our appetites when they served up a tasty looking first line up but the second course is looking even more delectableimage001

Since the initial announcement of The Libertines, Damien Rice and Love Psychedelico, Clockenflap has added iconic post punk/rock/electronic pioneers New Order to the bill. The legendary Mancunian act have been responsible for some of the most recognizable songs of their era including “Bizarre Love Triangle,” “Crystal” and “Blue Monday” and their Sunday headline show at Clockenflap will be fans’ only opportunity to see them in South East Asia this year.

Another huge addition to the bill comes in the form of the irrepressible Chic ft. Nile Rogers. This news is sure to delight fans who were there to witness their spectacular sunset performance, forever etched in the memories of all that attended Clockenflap in 2013.

Additionally, the line-up has been bolstered by a diverse range of acts from across the musical spectrum including HOCC, Mercury Rev, Battles,Kid Koala, Gui Boratto, Nouvelle Vague, Justin Martin, Yuksek, Jacques Greene, Saul Williams, Shugo Tokumaru and The Weathering. See the full line up below.

In maintaining its commitment to creating an overall sensory experience, Clockenflap have again upped their game with a spectacular set of arts installations. Financed by grants, this year’s festival will feature a giant pyramid known as the Magnet Palace, which towers over the festival at six metres high.

Following the tradition (or obsession!) with totem poles, Clockenflap will also be unveiling TOTEM. A collaborative project between Clockenflap, Filthy Luker and Pedro Estrellas from the UK, and Matthias Czaja (this year’s Clockenflap mascot designer), the totem serves as a façade onto which Czaja will paint a huge ATUM (this year’s mascot) with inflatable tentacles protruding from the upper regions of the six-meter structure.

Discount tickets are now on sale on www.clockenflap.com, with special rates offered for under 18 year olds and full-time students. Clockenflappers, both existing and new, will have the opportunity to experience yet another year of Hong Kong’s biggest cultural celebration – a festival established by the people for the people.
