Karma Klique want you to party with purpose down Bangkok’s Chao Phraya river

Karma Klique, a non-profit organization focusing on the power of music as a tool to trigger social change, will be running their innaugral event, Karma Kruise on Saturday 2nd of April.

Taking place along the mighty Chao Phraya river, the event will host 175 revelers in all the majesty of Bangkok’s famed sunsets from their floating dance floor. The cruise will commence its journey at 4:30pm, heading past historically significant sites like Wat Arun, Memorial Bridge and the Grand Palace.

The organizers, all of whom have volunteered their time to the project, have set themselves the goal of raising in excess of 100,000 THB to donate to the Duang Pradeep Foundation, a charity that works with some of the most impoverished citizens within Bangkok’s Klong Toei slum area. One of their services is offering a kindergarten, a place that serves as a refuge for children whose parents have to work during the day, providing a safe place for learning. Funds will be committed to educational programs to help break the cycle of poverty.

The event will see some of the biggest names in Bangkok’s nightlife scene, along with revered international headliner Lando, performing across three venues, for more than twelve hours. Luminaries within the Bangkok underground electronic community including Sunju Hargun, Dan Buri, Mendy, Indigo and Tekayu Harrington will also be performing across the event, volunteering their time and talents behind the decks.

The function is set to commence at Viva & Aviv The River before revelers make their way to the Karma Kruise boat for a sunset cruise down the Chao Phraya river, past significant cultural landmarks like Wat Arun and The Grand Palace.

Describing the mission of Karma Klique, co-founder Johan Vandebeek said, “As a group of like-minded individuals, we are working together to empower people by allowing them to make a difference in a way that is easily accessible to them. Our mission is grounded in our belief that people have the desire and inclination to help those in less fortunate circumstances.”

The afterparty at GLOW will be headlined by Lando, famous for his unique mix of classic house, techno, acid, and electro. Berlin has allowed him to filter it all through one lens, one that favors pulsing basslines, trippy melodies, and machine-made funk. This aesthetic carries over into his DJ sets, and explains his appearances at Berghain/Panorama Bar, Trouw, Fabric, Sub Club, Space, and the Dimensions Festival.
