Taiwan Hosts the Annual Formoz Festival

The Formoz Festival started out as a few bands playing a street festival in 1995. It then developed into a multi-stage, professionally-run event for thousands of fans. Formoz was Taiwan’s first international level music festival and it brought a world of music to local fans, and stoked a rock-n-roll fire that still blazes in the hearts of fans throughout the nation.

With THE WALL MUSIC as the current main organizer – Formoz continues to represent the idea that a group of young, die-hard rock fans can use music to bring about social change. The festival’s growth was robust, and line-ups featuring Taiwan’s best bands and major international names proved to Taiwanese fans that they could indeed have their own world-class festival. The number of stages grew, and a whole range of genres and styles were incorporated.

Formoz also worked to bring social activists and humanitarian groups into the festival, and recent editions featured a Social Action Village for information booths, exhibitions and other activities. Over the years, Formoz has not just established itself as an international-level music festival, it has also been a major force behind local cultural movements.

Formoz is happening on August 3-4, 2013 from 12PM to 10PM at Taipei Children’s Recreation Center & Taipei Expo Park.
