Indie outfit The xx made their debut with xx, a collection of ambient tunes that eventually won the acclaim and raves of music pros and enthusiasts alike. The record won the Mercury Prize in 2010, beating several outstanding acts including Biffy Clyro‘s Only Revolutions, Laura Marling‘s I Speak Because I Can, and Mumford and Sons‘ Sigh No More. The trio, composed of Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim, and Jamie Smith (Jamie xx), then went on to be one of the most sought-after bands, their follow-up to the brilliant xx anticipated by most. Coexist was released in 2012 and birthed the tracks “Angels”, “Chained” and “Fiction”. The band also contributed to Baz Luhrman’s The Great Gatsby Soundtrack with “Together”, which played during the movie’s end credits. This year, The xx are embarking on their first ever Asian tour, much to the delight of their fans on this side of the globe.
