Indie hip-hop duo Shabazz Palaces to hit Singapore

Remember Big Wig Festival last April in Singapore? Propaganda is bringing American hip-hop duo Shabazz Palaces to the Lion City, for their second music event. Take your agendas and mark the date, the gig is on the 21st of June at Home Club, and will thrill your evening!

Shabazz Palaces 5 (2011)

Based in Seattle, Shabazz Palaces, made up of former emcee of Grammy award winning Digable Planets, Ishmael Butler and multi-instrumentalist Tendai Maraire, goes far beyond the confines of just being called hip-hop. Their 2011 debut album Black Up (Sub Pop Records) received high praise for its boundary pushing sound and has been described as “hip hop’s most inventive album of 2011” by MOJO.

Shabazz Palaces have made a huge impact on the world of hip-hop, combining the genre with elements of jazz, RnB, and electronica. In concert, they not only rap, but do their own instrumentation (live drums and electronics), and use aspects of performance art to create a moving atmosphere.

As part of a new initiative, Propaganda will be hosting a live Q&A session at The Hub Singapore from 1pm on the 21st of June. “Propaganda presents: 3rd Party with Shabazz Palaces” will be open to aspiring musicians, the general public, and media.
