LIVE REVIEW: Konsert Mega Bintang

by

A night set to triumph, Konsert Mega Bintang (All-Stars Concert) presents not one but eight of Indonesia’s finest artists. Streams of excited fans slowly filled up the seats of the Resorts World Sentosa Convention Centre Compass Ballroom, unaware of what’s in store.

24-year-old Afgan kicked off the night, accompanied with dancers in shimmery dresses and silky outfits. Don’t let his soft whispers of ‘”Terima Kasih Cinta” fool you as he proves why he should be opening the night with his upbeat numbers. The Indonesian heartthrob serenaded the audience with a line-up of love tunes, one after another. A lucky audience even got to share a special song with Afgan on stage some got to steal kisses!

The night continued with Sherina Munaf, who is one to watch in the near future, as she graced the stage with her sassy vocals. Singer-songwriter Vidi Aldiano made an appearance for a duet with her, who also performed a mash-up of two popular songs from alternative bands, Dewa 19 and Padi later in the show.

There is a certain Indonesian nostalgic feel that is coupled with Gamma1’s performance of “1 Atau 2” that left us wishing for more. D’Bagindas showered the crowd with even more love in ‘C. I. N. T. A.’ that got everyone roaring along. And just like an elegant white swan, Maudy Ayunda embellished the stage with her enchanting ballad.

Sitting on stools in damper grey suits, pop-rock quintet UNGU showed off their mature showmanship and familiarity with the audience. It is no wonder they have achieved commendable success across borders. The band treated us to a snippet of an unreleased track that left the audience listening in awe.

Finally, the moment everyone has been waiting for: Rossa stepped on stage for the grand finale, basked in the stage light and mesmerizing visuals, binding the crowd in a captivating spell. Donned in black and gold, the Goddess glowed across the stage as her mellifluous anthems reached out to each and everyone’s heart.

Afgan later made a surprise reappearance for a never-done-before duet with Rossa, who was later replaced by Pasha for yet another song. Just as we thought it couldn’t get any better, Afgan got back on stage for one last song to call it a night. With so many spectacular collaborations and so much talent in one night, it was definitely a celebration for all.
