The Trees & The Wild (Indonesia)

The Trees & The Wild was formed in 2006 by lead vocalist Remedy Waloni, guitarist Andra Budi Kurniawan, and Iga Massardi in Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia. After the release of their debut album ‘Rasuk’, Hertri Nur Pamungkas joined the band as a drummer, followed by Tyo Prasetya and Charita Utamy as bassist and vocalist respectively. ‘Rasuk’ met with great critical acclaim: Junk Online listed the album as one of “2009’s Best Albums of South East Asia”, Rolling Stone Indonesia also gave them “Best Local Album 2009”, and Timeout Jakarta dubbed the album as “Album of The Year 2009”. Currently, the band is writing for their second album, with a more Indonesian feel, planning to release it in 2013. The Trees & The Wild will also be conducting their own Europe tour and are seeking support for their international flights via crowdfunding platform ToGather.Asia – click here to learn more and contribute for special rewards!

Tenderfist (Malaysia)

Tenderfist is a modern day bedroom dreamy pop band. They write and perform intimate songs of living, heartbreak, dancing and things in between. This Kuala Lumpur-based musical ensemble began in 2008 when a group of music lovers with their “toy instruments in the attic” aesthetics started making pop music for their own pleasure. Their music can be described as a joyous collision of pop and electronics. The combination of dreamy synth-pop and strings swirl around hushed vocals that smiles at your teenage years. Aside from Reeperbahn Festival, Tenderfist will also be playing some additional dates in Europe, with details to be announced soon.

MONSTER CAT (Singapore)

MONSTER CAT channels lush, emotive folk-rock with delicate instrumentation and intense imagery. Layered harmonies evoke the supernatural as fractured love songs cradle listeners between the depths of intimacy and menace. Fragile yet powerful; their music echoes the ebbing of your subconscious hurt. From the dramatic intent of The Smashing Pumpkins to Fever Ray’s visceral force of myth and music, the four-piece tries its best to imitate these artists but fails spectacularly – creating instead, a sound that is all their own.

MONSTER CAT: Our excitement was through the roof! We salute every single band who participated in the competition and we feel very honoured to have been the one selected in the end.

How do you plan to make the most out of this opportunity?
We’re going to start planning things out right away. We want to make the most out of the trip, whether it be playing more shows, getting as much press coverage as possible or filming content while we’re there, we’re pumped and ready to go all out. This is a golden opportunity to connect with people in Europe and we definitely won’t let it go to waste.

Any words for all the monster kitties who had voted for you?
Thank you to everyone who voted, tweeted and supported us in any way. We owe so much to our fans and would not be where we are if not for them. We promise we won’t let you down!
