80,000 People Want Kanye West To Be Dropped From Music Festival

kanye glastonburyYou may have heard that Kanye West has been tapped on the shoulder to play the headline slot at Glastonbury, arguably the biggest music festival in the world. Well, not everyone is happy about it.

A petition asking the festival to remove West, one of the first named acts for the festival, from the lineup has received more than 80,000 signatures in just 4 days.

“Kanye West is an insult to music fans all over the world. We spend hundreds of pounds to attend glasto, and by doing so, expect a certain level of entertainment. Kanye has been very outspoken on his views on music….he should listen to his own advice and pass his headline slot on to someone deserving! Lets (sic) prevent this musical injustice now!”

West is due to perform on the Saturday night at the festival whilst rockers the Foo Fighters will headline the Friday night. At the time of print, Lionel RIchie was the only other confirmed act. Far from being the first Glastonbury headliner to receive criticism before even having a chance to hit the stage, Jay Z and Beyonce were also blasted by the festival’s rock and alternative music contingent, who argue hip-hop has no place at Glastonbury.

Tickets for the festival, which takes place from 24 – 28 Jun, were snapped up by fans before the lineup was released and was competely sold out in less than half an hour, with an eye watering 5769 tickets being sold per minute.
