Giant firebreathing Arcadia spider set to terrorize Korea, Taiwan

It’s circumnavigated the globe, awed onlookers at Coachella and Glastonbury and now Arcadia’s mechanical arachnoid behemoth is coming to take over Korea and Taiwan.arcadia-korea-taiwan

Following on from its successful foray into Asia with two huge events in Bangkok in 2014 and earlier this year, Arcadia has announced that it will be bringing the sensory mayhem of Arcadia to other Asian countries. It will first be touching down at Seoul’s historic Olympic Stadium on September 2nd and 3rd and then on to Taipei’s Riverside Park on October 9th.

If you hadn’t already heard, the 50-tonne mechanical spider is a 360 degree, spellbindingly interactive environment with a fully programmable DJ booth suspended above the sweet spot of the dance floor. The stage mesmerises crowds with LED screens, an army of lasers, giant jets of CO2 and cannons that shoot 50ft fireballs and to top it all off, the behemoth boasts one of the best sound systems in the whole of SE Asia, specially designed and configured to create a 100m sound field for a truly immersive experience.

Pip Rush, one of Arcadia’s founders, has said: “It’s been an amazing year and we’re really proud to have the opportunity to take Arcadia into new countries and cultures. Seeing the Spider in so many new settings surrounded by people from so many different backgrounds is going to be incredibly special

We’re really concentrating on working with communities to bring new dimensions to the experience and the connection we’ve made with the Nyungar people for the Perth show will be a seminal moment for us. This is the beginning of another new chapter for Arcadia, and we can’t wait to take everyone on the journey with us.”
