Kanye West has just dropped his much hyped new album The Life of Pablo, commemorating the event by hosting listening parties around the world from the unveiling at Madison Square Garden. But there’s one person who isn’t impressed.

At the star-studded event Taylor Swift has found herself, again targetted by the controversy magnet, West. In front of the thousands in attendance and millions watching around the globe Kanye, in a collaboration with Rihanna called Famous, raps a line “I feel like me and Taylor still might have sex. Why? Cuz I made that b*tch famous”.

West is presumably referring to when he famously interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 VMAs. The popstar was awarded a Best Female Video award and mid way through the speech when Kanye snatched the microphone from her and declared that Beyonce was the rightful recipient of the award.

The pair made up publicly at the 2015 VMA awards but we can’t imagine that she is thrilled about West suggesting he “might” still have sex with her as a reward for making her famous. Fans certainly are not thrilled, jumping to support the star.

Whilst Taylor herself has not made any public statements, a spokesperson from Swift related, “Kanye did not call to ask for approval but to ask Taylor to release his single “Famous” on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message.”

The leadup was not necessarily smooth either. West was involved in a Twitter argument with musician Wiz Khalifa after the latter accused him of stealing album title No 2 (Waves) from fellow rapper Max B. The fued went back and forth, dragging in his ex-girlfriend Amber Rose into the fray.

Never one to shy away from controversy, West recently went on the record, saying that he believes Bill Cosby to be innocent of the more than 50 separate rape charges that he has been charged with. The statement  led to considerable backlash from even his most fervent supporters.

A video appeared soon afterwards showing Taylor’s brother Austin Swift, 23 , of Instagram cheerfully whistling as he picks up a pair of and unceremoniously dumps them in the trash. The video is captioned, “Getting a head start on some spring cleaning. Here we go again.”
