MTV World Stage set for triumphant return to Malaysia in September


MTV World Stage Malaysia will be returning, bringing a host of the hottest local and international acts to perform at Surf Beach, Sunway Lagoon on Saturday 12 September.



The event, now in its seventh year is available to a quarter of a billion households across more than 160 countries and will again be hosted by MTV VJs Alan and Hanli. The highly anticipated outdoor event will feature a line-up with five acts to be announced in the coming weeks including two international acts, two regional acts and one #MostWantedMalaysia act who will all join the MTV stage.


In the previous years the festival has run, MTV World Stage Malaysia has hosted some of the biggest international acts including Robin Thicke, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Thirty Seconds to Mars. In addition to globe conquering superstars, the performance has also highlighted popular K-pop acts such as EXO, BEAST, Boys Republic and Jay Park and provided international exposure for local Malaysia acts like Yuna, Bunkface and Mizz Nina.


In addition, MTV is set to launch a new Asia multi-platform campaign MTV Breaks Ignited by Xpax, offering big ‘breaks’ to three talented, young creatives who will get the opportunity for a stint as a photographer, multimedia content creator or motion graphics designer at this year’s show. The selected candidates will be mentored by experts within the industry and the MTV team. In another offering to turn the spotlight on fans, MTV is presenting yet another opportunity for up and coming Malaysian acts to showcase their talents as Malaysia’s #MostWanted Act at MTV World Stage Malaysia. Local artists or bands keen to participate can submit their interest at from 13 – 26 July.

From 30 July – 14 August, fans can show their support by hashtagging their preferred local band or artist they want to see perform at MTV World Stage Malaysia 2015. Based on fans’ votes and other performance criteria, Malaysia’s chosen #MostWanted Act will perform as the opening act at the show.
