American rock giants Guns N’ Roses are heading to Asia as part of their “Not in this Lifetime” world tour, touching down in both Singapore and Bangkok in February, 2017
The reformed lineup brings together three members from the band’s classic 1980s and early 1990s line-up – singer Axl Rose, guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan.
Guns N’ Roses recently concluded the North American leg of the tour and are currently performing across South America before they touch down in Australia and New Zealand. Originally Singaporean tour promoter LAMC Productions revealed that the band “will not be performing in nearby countries” and the only other Asian concerts on the tour announced so far are in Japan. It must have come as a surprise then when Thai concert promoter Viji Corp dropped this bombshell on their Facebook page:
Axl Rose toured with Guns N’ Roses for a secret gig in Bangkok in 2007 but it is the first time the full lineup will appear together in the city. The tour also represents the first time the band will play in Singapore and will likely be the biggest rock show ever in the city, eclipsing even Metallica’s epic performance to 40,000 fans in 2013.
Guns N’ Roses is one of the bestselling hard rock bands of all time, their massive popularity is highlighted by their unparalleled chart success since 1987.
Their debut album Appetite for Destruction propelled them into immediate superstardom and remains the best-selling US debut ever, selling more than 30 million copies globally. They followed up this success with 1991’s seven-time platinum Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II which dominated the charts, occupying the top two spots of the Billboard Top 200 upon release. The Los Angeles rockers have sold more than 100 million records across their caareer and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
