American rockers Yo La Tengo are Bangkok bound

New Jersey indie darlings Yo La Tengo are set for Bangkok – the latest indie act to visit the city as part of the Singha Light Live Series.

Fresh from touring Ratatat, local promoter HAVE YOU HEARD? have revealed that the experimental quartet will perform on December 4th at Voice Space. Tickets are now on sale through Ticket Melon.

Recently the band has toured with a revised lineup that has seen former guitarist Dave Schramm join the group for a series of dates across the United States. The band are currently in the midst of a North American tour but will be making a quick trip across the Pacific for shows in Japan and a one-night-only performance in Bangkok.

Described as “the quintessential critics’ band” they have developed a cult following since forming in 1984. Comprised of Ira Kaplan, Georgia Hubley, James McNew and now Dave Schramm, Yo La Tengo are known as one of the most restless and most consistent bands of the past three decades, with fourteen studio albums and critical acclaims spanning across their career. Their latest album, Stuff Like That There includes reworked classic songs from Hank Williams, Sun Ra and The Cure with their whimsical, folky touch.

Tickets aren’t cheap, priced at 1,500 THB but with the show not happening until early December there’s plenty of time to start saving your pennies.
