Pharoahe Monch

Music Weekly: We can’t wait to see you in Singapore at Big Wig Music Festival! It’s your first time here, how do you feel about it?

Pharoahe Monch: I just love performing live and I’ve dreamed of seeing Singapore. I’m just so blessed to be able to travel.

You’re known for your complex technical delivery. Were there any particular artists or records that helped you to shape your current style?

Not really… I’m influenced by so many things! Jazz, rock, films (and) great conversation inspires me. Greatness inspires me.

What is the inspiration or story behind your latest EP, ‘Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder’? What significance does this record hold for you on a personal level?

It’s the follow up to the WAR album so I wanted to discuss human issues as if I was a soldier returning from war, which actually the metaphor to this current independent struggle.

What’s are your plans for the future – upcoming projects, albums, shows, tours, solo or otherwise?

I’ve been blogging on sports blogs (The Shadow League). I also started a production team called 13MEN.

Any last words for your fans in Singapore?

I can’t wait to rock! Thank y’all for all the love and support!
