Mumford & Sons Poised to Tower On with ‘Babel’

by

Grammy Awards nominee Mumford and Sons releases their 2nd studio album, Babel — a much-awaited follow up to their debut Sigh No More which was released in 2009.

Spending time on the road, the band toured extensively with their Gentlemen of the Road stopovers and performed at numerous festivals for the past three years : Coachella, Glastonbury Festival, Bonnaroo, and even partnered up with fellow bands Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes and Old Crow Medicine Show for the successful Railroad Revival Tour.  They managed to squeeze in performances at the Grammys and the Brits, winning Best British Album in 2011, going four times platinum in the UK, and twice platinum in the US.

Finally settling in to start on their second album,  the band decided to reconvene in Nashville in the New Year of 2011, and worked their way into writing new material and letting the album take its shape.

“We are more than excited to release Babel into the world. We had started writing new songs well before we got into the studio to record. At first, we peeled ourselves off the road quite reluctantly. We love playing live, obviously, but it had also become an important part of our creative process, we had been writing and rehearsing in soundchecks, and sort of ‘road-testing’ new songs on our very gracious audiences. But then we fell in love with recording again. The album started to come together, and with the help of Markus Dravs once more (and engineer Robin Baynton), we started to relish the challenge of making this album.  As a band, we’ve never been closer or more collaborative, all working to our strengths. And so we feel that this record is a natural progression that we’re proud of, and we cannot wait to take it out on the road.”  – Mumford & Sons

Babel will be released through Gentlemen of the Road/Cooperative Music and Love Da Records on the 24th September 2012.
