YUNA Joins Verve Music Group

Good news for Malaysian born singer/songwriter Yuna!

She’s just signed a deal with major label Verve Music Group.  Described by Elle as, “somewhere between the world’s most famous heartbroken-songstresses, Adele and Lana Del Rey”, she joins the label’s diverse artist roster including Diana Krall, Ledisi, and Andrea Bocelli. Verve Records Chairman David Foster says, “Yuna has a unique perspective as a singer and songwriter.  She’s hypnotizing. Her music and persona have an air of mystery that draws you into her world.  She’s simply one of the most compelling young artists I’ve ever heard, and a perfect compliment to our developing roster of legends and legends in the making at Verve.”

Having recently performed at The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Yuna teams up with multi-platinum recording artist Owl City to present Dream Works Animations’ 3D comedy, The Croods‘ theme song “Shine Your Way”. The film will be in theatres everywhere on March 22, 2013 and the soundtrack will be available March 19, 2013.

In a considerably short amount of time, YUNA has become an internationally recognized name with this past year marking her a breakout in North America.  YUNA’s self-titled, full-length debut charted at #23 on the iTunes Pop chart, #86 on the iTunes 100 Albums chart and #23 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.  Her music has received critical acclaim from numerous press outlets with Rolling Stone championing her as having, “certified indie cred and massive pop potential,” and Complex describing her as, “a deeply refreshing addition to America’s musical landscape.”

She’s performed on national television, was a finalist for MTV Iggy’s “Best New Band In The World,” has had multiple songs featured in movies and on soundtracks, and played at both Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo.
