Can Carly Rae Jepsen Top ‘Call Me Maybe’?

Carly Rae Jepsen captured the world’s attention when her song, “Call Me Maybe” spawned multiple covers and lip-synced versions on Youtube. From celebrities like her mentor Justin Bieber and his on-off girlfriend, Selena Gomez, Disney stars Ashley Tisdale and Big Time Rush, pop star Katy Perry, and actor James Franco to a couple of regular Joes: an office staff, a swimming team, a bunch of cheerleaders – everyone quickly knew the lyrics to the song and took on the task of singing along to Jepsen’s catchy tune.

As Jepsen went viral in just a matter of days, the former Canadian Idol contestant entered the US Billboard Top 100 and spent nine whole weeks at Number 1 before Florida took her spot. From then on, she released her sophomore album, Kiss, and followed it up with her singles: “Good Time” with Owl City, “This Kiss” and “Tonight I’m Getting Over You“.

While all three tracks managed to enter the charts worldwide, it was never as infectious as her first hit – which makes us wonder: can Jepsen ever top her biggest hit? Or is she bound to be a one-mega hit wonder?
