DiGi: First Malaysian telco to bundle a global music streaming service

Last week, DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (“DiGi”) announced its partnership with global music streaming service, Deezer, as part of its ongoing strategy to drive mobile Internet lifestyle by enriching customers’ mobile experience with relevant digital services. With this partnership, customers can enjoy free Deezer Premium+ with selected packages. This positions DiGi as the first mobile service provider in Malaysia to work with the French-based online music streaming service.

Praveen Rajan, Head of Products – Internet & Services for DiGi explained, “Music streaming is gaining more followers every day as evidenced by the 26 million people who are using Deezer today. Thanks to a global framework agreement with Telenor Group, DiGi is able to create more value for our music-loving customers to enjoy the Deezer premium service. This latest collaboration with a key Internet player fits perfectly with our intention to build an ecosystem of digital services to deliver a richer Internet experience for all customers as part of our efforts to deliver Internet For All.”

“We believe that partnerships with mobile operators like DiGi are an effective way to extend our reach and proposition to a whole new group of people who appreciate music and variety. With Deezer, users can listen and create multiple playlists for any occasion, wherever they go. They can discover and enjoy music from a wide selection of music genres that would appeal to any generation, thanks to the support from major music labels like Sony Music, Warner Music and Universal Music as well as independent labels,” said Clément Gossé, Deezer’s Business Development Manager for Asia Pacific.
