Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea invade the 80’s in their new ‘Pretty Girls’ clip

Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea’s “Pretty Girls” music clip has landed and it’s a futuristic flashback romp, combining some of the wildest fashion trends of the 80s, glam make-overs, a Samsung sponsorship and extraterrestrials.

Where Iggy’s “Fancy” video took a playful swipe at 90’s chick flick Clueless, the video for “Pretty Girls” takes inspiration from 80’s classic Earth Girls are Easy. The video commences with Britney as an 80’s era Valley Girl lounging out by her pool wearing sunglasses at night, listening to what we assume must be some funky fresh beats through her totally bitchin’ pink boombox.

Out of nowhere a spaceship lands in her back pool and Iggy-as-an-alien saunters out of the pool. Naturally Britney responds the way any of us would in this situation by giving alien-Iggy a makeover, teasing her hair into an 80’s-licious crimped out do, adorning her in a denim on denim vest and shorts combo and cruising around in a convertible.

Along the way they turn the water coming out of a car wash purple, hack an ATM, get funky fresh with a bunch of dancing bros, pick up some considerably less attractive friends and hit the clubs. If it makes no sense, it’s because it makes no sense. It’s just a fun clip – the visual equivalent of a McDonalds happy meal. There’s no real nutrition in it but it is just so damn enjoyable and it only lasts about four minutes before it’s been consumed.

One listen and you’re sure to have this song stuck in your head for a while (complete with nasal alien-Iggy talking like, totally, like a Valley Girl). But hey, if you do happen to find this rattling around your brain, we’ve got a cure for that too. Damn we’re good to you.
