Lorde Team Video Released And Crashes Her Vevo Channel

New Zealand: Lorde, currently in all Top 30 Asia charts with her debut single ‘Royals’, has released the eagerly anticipated video to the follow-up single, “Team”.

Lorde, real name Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O’Connor, has been the US No.1 for a staggering 9 weeks with her debut single, ‘Royals’, which also made her the first New Zealand solo artist to have a number one song in the US.

Now, the outspoken 17 year old, who recently lashed out at Miley Cyrus and Selenna Gomez, has released the follow up single, ‘Team’ and crashed video site Vevo due to the huge rush by fans to see it first.

‘Omg you crashed vevo!’ the 17-year-old singer tweeted to her 618,000 followers.

‘I think you’re all overloading the video…let it breathe! hehe.’

Lorde describes the video in her typical artsy style. “This video was borne from a dream i had a few months ago about teenagers in their own world, a world with hierarchies and initiations, where the boy who was second in command had acne on his face, and so did the girl who was queen. i dreamt about this world being so different to anything anyone had ever seen, a dark world full of tropical plants and ruins and sweat. and of this world, i dreamt about tests that didn’t need to be passed in order to be allowed in: sometimes the person who loses is stronger. ”

Lorde released her debut album ‘Pure Heroine’ to universal acclaim, with Rolling Stone in the US awarding it 7th place in their ‘Albums of the Year’ .

She has also admitted she would like to write a song for K-Pop bands such as 2NE1 and Girl’s Generation. She said in an interview with Clash magazine, “Girlbands are only cool if they’re so ridiculous it’s awesome, like the K-Pop girlbands with twelve people who rule the country. I’d write for a Korean girlband, definitely – some of their melodies are the best pop.”
